Project Summary:
In 2025, the Climate Change Adaptation Evidence Hub implemented a strategic consultancy project on Renewable Energy Pathway Research for 100% Renewable Energy in Africa in partnership with Power Shift Africa. The project sought to provide evidence-based pathways for accelerating Africa’s transition toward renewable energy systems and reducing dependence on fossil fuels.
The consultancy focused on generating policy-relevant research on renewable energy opportunities, barriers, governance systems, and financing mechanisms necessary for achieving universal clean energy access in Africa. The project also supported regional climate advocacy efforts by strengthening evidence for clean energy transition policies and just transition frameworks.
Key objectives included assessing renewable energy investment opportunities, supporting strategic climate and energy advocacy, strengthening policy dialogue with African governments, and contributing to the development of Africa-centered energy transition narratives. The initiative further aimed at building alliances among policymakers, researchers, civil society organizations, and climate justice actors to support low-carbon development across the continent.
The project involved strategic engagement with African governments, participation in continental climate and energy policy discussions, and the development of technical inputs for fundraising and policy processes. It also contributed to strengthening African civil society campaigns focused on climate justice, renewable energy access, and sustainable development. The consultancy supported knowledge generation and policy integration within broader African climate and energy programmes.
Through this project, the Climate Change Adaptation Evidence Hub reinforced its role as a leading African institution promoting evidence-based climate action, sustainable energy transition, and inclusive green growth pathways that respond to the needs of vulnerable communities while advancing continental climate ambitions.
